Native runners shine at state cross nation finals



COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. (KRDO) — Southern Colorado was well represented at the cross country state championships.

Air Academy freshman Bethany Michalak claimed the 4A individual state crown with a time of 17:59.

The Classical Academy (TCA) Titans girls team claimed their second straight 3A state championship, despite being without teammate Sawyer Wilson. Wilson is quarantining after testing positive for COVID-19.

Buena Vista clinched the girl’s 2A team state championship.

Heritage Christian claimed the boy’s 2A state crown.

Ella Johnson of The Vanguard School is the 2A girl’s individual state champion.
