New mural honoring leaders in “Ok-Land” neighborhood


COLORADO SPRINGS – A new mural was unveiled Saturday in southern Colorado Springs, also known as K-Land, by some of the people living in the community.

The unveiling of the mural took place in John Adams Park in honor of local icon Sam Dunlap. It is a tribute and representation to a local icon who has served this community for over five decades, along with some unsung heroes who grew up in that community and whom Sam Dunlap directly influenced and influenced.

The mural and event will also honor the life of De & # 39; Von Bailey. Bailey's family was there to speak alongside Rev. Promise Lee from Relevant Word Ministries, organizer Lil D, and members of the Dunlap family.

The mural, according to the organizers, is a “visual story” for the community to see, remember, and honor community personalities who made a direct positive impact on the Southside / K-Land community and changes to improve ours Influenced society.
